More effervescent riffing from Colorado rockers School Knights. On their latest release, a limited run cassette with the perfect title of The Fred Durst Sex Tape (out soon through Crash Symbols), they team up with locals Pacific Pride for some high-grade '90s throwback exuberance. One of the most enjoyable things about School Knights is their willingness to embrace of the poppier side of alt rock, and that holds true here: you can hear shades of Third Eye Blind among the drug haze and frenzied power chords.

MP3: School Knights - Fuck The Beach

This is the third track from their debut record that Colorado's School Knights have slung our way and by now it's clear that these dudes take good vibes extremely seriously. There's a certain 2k11 self-awareness to calling a perfectly fuzzy pop-punk jam like this "Fuck The Beach", but even with that (and the chorus's sarcastic "He's so cool/She's so cool" refrain) it's hard to deny this song's exuberance: the cascading guitar harmonics, the backing ooh-oohs, the gleeful thrashiness of it all. It doesn't sound totally removed from the sun n' fun vibes of guitarist Michael Stein's other band, Weed Diamond. School Knights have just released a 7" on the excellent Bridgetown label, which has previously put out records from Cloud Nothings and Ancient Crux; their debut LP's out mid-year.

More ecstatically thrashy post-90s power pop from these Boulder, Colorado bros. This second track from their debut record, Fuck The Beach, is another amazing demonstration of how you do dual guitar indie rock: fuzzed out & furious with glorious riffs just cascading over and down. Not that it's totally naive ("Fuck The Beach") but the vibe here definitely owes something to Beach Boys sun n' fun songwriting; gonna sound pretty awesome blaring off the porch this summer!

Hopelessly addicted right now to these gloriously ecstatic jammers from this Boulder, Colorado duo. The shredded guitar tones and balls-out drumming make me wanna dive head first into into anything and everything while those melodies whip me into some sorta happy/sad/happy/sad cathartic bedroom frenzy. Fuck sour love and tight bros 4eva seems to be the philosophy and god damn, I am soooo down with that. "Never Needed" is lifted from the upcoming full length Fuck The Beach while "Cliques" is from the Rush S.K. EP dropping in a month or so from the super wonderful Bridgetown Records.
