YR LYF

MP3: Time Wharp - yrLyf

New cosmic-r&b track from Atlanta/Boston producer Time Wharp. This one starts off with chiming komische arpeggios, before revealing itself as an expert r&b crooner with an R Kelly sample. Off the forthcoming BLK EP on Astro Nautico.

Co-Premiere: TIME WHARP

MP3: Time Wharp - Mandelbrotset

(Co-Premiere w/ Altered Zones): Most of the much-blogged Atlanta-based crew who are vaguely labelable from the outside as Peace Age (C Powers, CH-Rom, Geist, heRobust and Twins et al) have been crunching wonky electro and hip-hop into a bong-centric, compressed and scruffy range of beats since their teen days. That might go some way to explain the latest from Time Wharp aka Patrick Loggins; it's in a more claustrophobic 404'd zone this time where the NES malfunctions of his previous Helvetica release lock into a more robotic groove and nerdy/bedroom sort of singularity.

NEON VORTEX

This Atlanta producer's effervescent jams are pretty fucking impressive for the way he piles electronic textures on top of each other and still manages to nail this totally effortless-sounding luxuriant vibe. Not sure what 1992 has to do with this track, though, since it's basically the anti-grunge and so now it hurts. Well, it doesn't hurt: it's got that new new age thing happening, light and ephemeral and refreshing, completely removed from anything resembling real world sounds or real world emotions.
