WATER FALLIN

Wowowow real deep beatz here from 20 year old Houston soundscaper Stephen Farris! There’s some extra heavy duty plastic grooves pushing Alphabet Soup along, all super-compressed synths and buzzing drum machines. But it’s the ghostly found sounds, ripped from VHS tapes and warped records, that make this such a fascinating listen: unlike other artists working in this genre, our boy Stephen doesn’t try to juxtapose/arrange/assemble his samples in some hilarious and ironic way. They’re just there, weird and slightly unnerving for their lack of context. You can download the Alphabet Soup EP for free now from Stephen Farris’ MySpace.
