MP3: White Horse - Let Those Swim Who Can, The Heavy May Sink
Some extra-heavy vibes for you, in case you're totally OVER Xmas cheer: LA producer White Horse has just put up his new EP for free on Bandcamp! It's an unsettling listen even before you get the context, which is that it was composed around a bunch of field recordings from the early 1900s. As White Horse, aka Ben Chisholm, puts it, these are recordings of "voices that have long since left this world." This track pairs dubstep-ish production with horror movie strings underneath a sample of a woman singing that slowly inflates with white noise until the tension is almost unbearable. Pretty amazing stuff, really. A second volume's coming out early 2011.
