MP3: Total Control - Mind Shaft
More new stuff from the increasingly uncategorisable Total Control in the form of the b-side to new single Pyre Island. Over the course of four 7"s they've made the transition from coldly robotic new wave punk to... coldly robotic minimalist techno. I guess they're just coldly robotic dudes, hey! It takes some stones to embrace the 606 as completely as Total Control have on this 7", but the good news is that the results are kind of amazing: hypnotic, propulsive, detached without being chin-scratchy. This single, released on Hustle Muscle (who've also put out records for Sun Araw and Holy Balm) will be their last before their debut album, out later this year on Iron Lung.
