MP3: Hit The Jackpot - Holiday

Real odd-sounding balladry on the first cut from Hit The Jackpot's long-awaited new record; it's a chiming guitar sound & subject matter that's instantly familiar, but these dudes from Adelaide take it to a pretty brilliantly stilted and volatile place. As with their hometown buds Bitch Prefect, there's a weird synthesis of influences powering Hit The Jackpot - there's hints of Young Marble Giants' prehistoric twee, as well as post-punk and some classic Oz rock vibes. Holiday (the EP) is out this week through Chapter (on cassette!); in the meantime, grab some of Hit The Jackpot's early recordings for free from their bandcamp.
