With a label like RQ-fave 100% Silk getting as much buzz as they have in the last 12 months, it goes without saying that vintage house & techno has been kind of a big-deal conversation-starter in certain circles lately. Fittingly, I've been spending much of this past year familiarising myself with various rare gems from the canon & obsessing over favourites old & new. It's kinda exciting then to read on FACT that Detroit techno pioneer Anthony 'Shake' Shakir has a new record out at the end of this month on Kyle Hall's Wild Oats imprint. "Pursuit Mix 3" captures that timeless Detroit sound, starting off with mechanical yet somehow loose beats that go deeper and deeper into a warm, analogue miasma.

Grip West Side Sessions soon from the label.
