Magic Fades have been blowing me away with their syrupy, boy-band influenced 90s r&b approximations, and it's amazing to see the degree to which they've developed (less than a year after their first single) in their debut full-length, available for free download from Mishka. Addictive listening, Obsession is filled with allusions to and the flourishes of classic r&b, but these signifiers are presented somewhat hazily, abstracting the desire that drives the genre and allowing it run rampant through the album, directed at nothing in particular but more intense because of it.
