Seriously cosmic interstitial visions on this new track from Egyptian Sports Network - a duo comprising Spencer Clark (Skaters, Monopoly Child Star Searchers) and Matt Mondanile (Ducktails, Real Estate), and on this track also featuring Mark McGuire. "Leo in Cyan" updates the nu age palette for the age of satellite transmission, and is part of the five-track Interstitial Luxor EP, out soon on New Images Ltd.

Just in case anyone else missed the news (like I did, WTF!?) of yet another new release from eternal looper Mark McGuire, here's an embarrassingly late peek at the title track. The whole LP is seriously amazing; honing way further in on those Summersian rhythm zones across all of the particularly focused four-five minute guitar/synth summer blissers. Of course he's always been a sucker for combining the homely with the cosmic (especially that recent Trouble Books collab) but the acoustic guitars on this one are so Basho yet also so golden coming-of-age TV show it's crazy. Feel like this is the best thing he's done in ages, grip it from Editions Mego from September 27 .

Another new collab from the still prolific (duh) Mark McGuire, this time hooking up with Julian Gulyas aka synth blisser Synaptic Foliage and also boss of Cylindrical Habitat Modules, the label releasing their new Younger Moon LP. The synth/guitar interplay and condensed textures actually bring "Whelm" pretty close to What Happened zones, but otherwise this one is more gradually immersive with the duo's ultra-dense combined layers occasionally falling away to reveal colder cosmic textures as much as bright, meadow-based bliss. It also makes perfect sense that apparently one of the tracks ("P.K. Ripper") was "recorded at the peak of their Tron: Legacy obsession".

As we heard last week, the rapid, scenery-out-car-window guitar harmonics from Akron, OH duo Trouble Books and Mark McGuire just get richer and richer. "The Golden Waste" is Mark's favorite cut, and the record's most immediately charming. Leaning toward the cosmic side between the homely and the transcendent, it channels the resonant frequencies of Habert House, where the three jammed these ultra-evocative compositions together.Grip some of the second lot of pressings from Bark and Hiss.

As if the perienially evocative Mark McGuire's acoustic and/or electric loops weren't already glowing enough, he teamed up with Akron-based "indie-synth dynamo duo" Trouble Books back in April for interior warmth and domesticly situated cosmicness. This limited Bark and Hiss release is poised to surprise McGuire drone die-hards with more linear strategies (i.e. vocals!), but he's still abstracting the quietly epiphanal via his signature, Andy Summers-style guitar harmonics to conjure some real safe places and beaconing moods. Word out there seems to suggest another collaboration between Mark McGuire and Spencer Clarke (of Monopoly Child Star Searchers) sometime soon. I'm sure anyone who gripped that mix Emeralds guitarist Mark McGuire made for Altered Zones a while back was as ridiculously into those "north coast smoothies" as I was, especially while driving in a car. Well, he's doped this one too, the same summer breeze smooth-fi R&B drifts through this with added hip-hop heavy hitters and contemporary glitzers. Looks like he's bringing those to clubs too if yr in Cleveland.

New hypnotic nostalgia from the super-prolific Mark McGuire (also of Emeralds), still masterful in his weaving of looped guitar lines into complex, beautiful threads, strewn over a bed of OPN-style synths here (check their incredible Skyramps collabo if you haven't already!) and sounding dense and moody and transcendent as ever. Scooped this one from McGuire's forthcoming LP entitled Living with Yourself.

New Mark McGuire tour CD and it flows even more smooth than usual, melding the synthesized 80s and Terry Riley-style stuff over again, signature advancements on a played-out experimental function (cascading loop pedal patterns) and I can finally feel what David Keenan meant in that hypno pop article about this stuff sounding like The Police (I think it said that?), real vibes-focused and yeah all crystals but mostly that "Free Drugs" feeling that goes with the Vacation Days title of post-swim sun bliss or mini-epihphany. Music that sounds like that kind of goodness/lyffe importance without sounding lame and soundtracky is and this album fits in with another fav feeling of mine/ours ie. total homeliness/gritty niceness as well.
