DO IT RIGHT

Unless you know nothing about Sydney (THERE IS NO REASON FOR THIS TO BE THE CASE.) you are aware that Songs were recently awarded Best Thing Ever in a gigantic parade through the streets of Surry Hills that began with the Governor-General confessing she has a “thing” for the bass player and ended with the Hopetoun Hotel closing down (FACT: if they were able to book Songs for every night plus Saturday matinees for the rest of forever plus one, THE HOPETOUN WOULD STILL BE OPEN. FACT.) Do you not understand the previous sentence? (plus parentheses?) You must not be aware of the intricate dance that is Sydney, Australia’s cultural cold war with Melbourne, Australia! (Australia is sort of under the Asia-y bit on a world map!) You see, Songs are a cool band: they sound cool, they look cool, they write cool songs, and they’ve achieved this without EVER BEING BASED IN MELBOURNE, which makes them unbelievably novel. Sydney makes bands that are rad*, boneriffic*, totes rocking* (*OUTMODED HIPSTER SLANG), but not cool, which is what Melbourne does, except Songs are cool. I shouldn’t need to explain any more.

Anyway, I could go on being obnoxiously facetious for tons longer than this, but I should say that this song is totally gnarly and more-ish and really fantastic. More importantly, it goes down great with a giant stein of vodka & soda, which is something you should try.

Songs aren't cool.
I saw them on the weekend, boring comes to mind.
Except for the bass player, the governer is on to something there...

Songs ARE cool.
It would be extra cool if they moved to Melbourne.
PS the bass player slept on my couch a couple times
