We liked Ancient Crux's socks-visible pop last year but check this fleshed out new direction, still washed in a realist Weezer/the 90s (ie Kicking & Screaming) alt-rock vibe and a slight dark streak to their twang, mixing Built To Spill-type mess with clear guitar lines and come off particularly bright on "Mutant Beach Theme" which makes me experience two different childhood memories, a) listening to Weezer and b) playing with Toxic Crusaders toys in my lounge which was "awesome".
