MP3: The Ancients - The Rambler
Some pretty excellent influences have figured in the making of this new track from the Ancients, the kind-of other band for Jon Michell of Mum Smokes. What it is is real sweet and timeless dreamfolk; it shambles along being happy with whatever, mellowing everything in its path like Godzilla's less stressed & angsty cousin. Here's another reference: it's like Yo La Tengo's Ira Kaplan (c. Summer Sun) called up the Go-Betweens to jam but slipped some 'ludes into their cordial before they hit the rehearsal space. Anyway. It's sorta perfect late summer music, gentle and pretty, perfect for checking out some constellations in the park or something.
