MP3: The Ancients - Spitting Dummies
Another sweetly esoteric pop jangler from longtime RQ faves The Ancients. This jam rides the same wistful, gently absurdist tip we've heard from them in the past, but this time with an additional alt. country vibe, maybe? It could just be the total hoedown of an intro that's clouding my judgement, but it sure sounds like frontman Jonathan Michell might have listened to a Gram Parsons record before he wrote this track. That's a totally great thing, BTW - this could be the best thing The Ancients have done. You can get this track on The Ancients' instant classic split 7" with The Twerps, out soon!
