I've been on holiday for a couple weeks (oh, and have moved to another country and city) and can't decide yet if it's been a pleasure or a drag trying to catch up on all the music that's built up in my inbox. One positive surprise has been a new edit from San Francisco producer Avalon Emerson, who a few months back brought us the thumping, Detroit-evoking "Milk Toast". "Caroline" is on an entirely different tip, approximating the feel (if not the sound entirely) of classic-era house with funk guitar, diva vocals and some rough and raw breaks.
