HOLIDAY / VACATION

AHH was just about to go to sleep but then this new Coolies album popped into my inbox and demanded instant listening. For the uninitiated, The Coolies are an Auckland-based trio who have been together sporadically since the late 90s. They're an underground fave in Auckland and have released stuff on Kill Rock Stars but they've always flown pretty under the radar. I remember discovering The Coolies when I was like 16 or 17 and being totally psyched on their riot-grrl/no-wave punk, blendered all together by drummer/producer Stefan Neville (aka Pumice) into the perfect audio equivalent of "not giving a fuck". Pumped that they're sounding cool and blasé as ever on this newie "Ghost Baby", taken from their forthcoming album on Chapter.

[Preorder the new album out on CD/LP September 27 in Australia, September 28 in the US]
