MP3: Wintercoats - Working On A Dream
This reflective slow-burner from Melbourne's Wintercoats seems to be tapping into that side of me that sighs at the thought of "gettin' old" and reflects on past memories with the lustre of faded, cross-processed colours in mind. Though an instrumental, it's sparse moments conjure up a breath-y feel which permeates throughout, creating a certain "air" of space and fragility. Built on delicate layers of plucked and sustained notes, the piece rises to its eventual, textural peak before ebbing away peacefully into its original plaintive state.
